Clef en Main manages rooms and apartments in Paris. These terms cover the website and the resident portal. Your lease itself is a separate contract under French law; nothing here replaces it.
1. The agreement
These terms apply to clefenmain.com and the resident portal behind sign-in, used by tenants and by property owners. Creating an account or signing in means accepting them. They are available in French and in English; in case of conflict about a tenancy, the French lease documents prevail.
2. What the service does
Clef en Main is a property management service for rooms and apartments in Paris. The site shows current vacancies and takes applications; the portal gives tenants and owners access to lease documents, rent, receipts and requests in one place.
The website is an interface to the management service. It is not the lease. Rights and obligations between tenant and landlord are set by the signed lease and by French tenancy law, including the loi du 6 juillet 1989 where it applies.
3. Applications and vacancies
Listings reflect the management system's current state, but a vacancy can be taken between your seeing it and your applying. An application is a request, not a reservation; a tenancy exists only when a lease is signed.
Application files are assessed against the criteria permitted by French law. Supplying false documents in an application is grounds for refusal and for termination if discovered later.
4. Accounts
One account is for one person. Tenants and owners each see the information that concerns their own tenancy or property, and nothing else. You are responsible for keeping your credentials to yourself and for what is done under your account.
5. Payments
Rent and charges are those set in your lease. The portal records payments and issues receipts; it does not change what is owed. If a figure in the portal disagrees with your lease, say so via the support page at /support and it will be checked against the lease.
6. Acceptable use
Do not use the portal to harass other parties, do not attempt to access another tenant's or owner's documents, and do not attempt to disrupt the service or probe it for vulnerabilities without permission.
7. Availability and liability
The portal is provided without a guarantee of uninterrupted availability; an outage of the portal never suspends the obligations in a lease, in either direction. To the extent permitted by law, liability under these terms is limited to direct damage; it does not limit any liability that French tenancy law does not allow to be limited.
8. Changes and contact
These terms may change; the date above records when, and continuing to use the service after a change means accepting it. Questions about these terms go via the support page at /support.
